Automation Technician
Position Type: Direct Hire
Position Location: Buffalo Grove, IL
Position Salary: $25/HR - $32/HR (Depending on Experience)
Shifts: Both Day & Night Shifts available
Responsibilities:
- The Automation Technician role supports automation engineering services activities such as hardware and software design and development (non-production).
- Maintain continuous system operation by adjusting, repairing, replacing, or modifying automation/robotic system components
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems and components and return to serviceability
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance actions on all subsystems and related components
- Ensure preventative maintenance of robotic and process support equipment are completed on a regularly scheduled basis
- Understanding of PLCs
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical diagrams including complex automated system drawings
- Analyzes engineering test results and implements changes to resolve problems
- Collaborate with the automation team in the qualification process of automated systems
- Records procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in product or method
- Maintains software, documentation and equipment to the latest revision or operational specifications
- Assists engineers in developing and designing hardware and software required for all automation solutions per specifications
- Trains other technicians and operators on products, processes, and equipment
- Proper use of power tools and measuring equipment
- Strong awareness of safety
- Specialized job responsibilities may be required for certain positions. These could include one or more of the following duties:
- Assists with customer presentations and interfaces with customers
- Assists engineers with outside third-party automation developments
- Organizes documentation (specifications, schematics, and procedures)
Requirements:
- Typically requires an Associates degree, military training, equivalent vocational training, or equivalent experience
- Typically requires 2 years of related experience (PLC's, HMI's, etc.)
- Demonstrates advanced technical skills which may be used to conduct on-the job training and/or lead/guide other employees
- Highly skilled with ability to move between projects
- Demonstrates broad knowledge of functional techniques and has input to process improvement
- Applies new technologies and technological changes
- Contributes to and improves techniques/ concepts
- Assists in developing goals/targets of line or department
- Requires little to no instruction. Requires little to no supervision
