Job Description :

The Automotive Service Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the service department at an automotive dealership or repair shop. This role includes managing service advisors, technicians, and support staff, ensuring customer satisfaction, and maximizing service department efficiency and profitability. The Service Manager will ensure that all work is completed to high-quality standards and that customer concerns are addressed promptly and professionally.

Key Responsibilities:

• Staff Management: Lead, train, and motivate a team of service advisors, technicians, and support staff to ensure high standards of performance and customer service.

• Customer Service: Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, addressing service-related inquiries, resolving complaints, and ensuring customer satisfaction.

• Operational Oversight: Manage the workflow in the service department, ensuring timely and accurate repairs and maintenance. Schedule and allocate tasks for technicians based on expertise and availability.

• Quality Control: Monitor work quality and ensure that repairs are completed according to manufacturer standards and customer expectations.

• Financial Management: Oversee service department budgeting, pricing, and inventory management. Ensure profitability targets are met by maximizing revenue opportunities and controlling costs.

• Marketing and Sales: Promote service department offerings (e.g., maintenance packages, special promotions), upsell services, and maintain relationships with customers to encourage repeat business.

• Safety and Compliance: Ensure the service department operates in compliance with all health and safety regulations, environmental standards, and industry best practices.

• Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, work orders, repairs, parts inventory, and other service-related documentation.

• Problem Solving: Troubleshoot and resolve complex customer issues, vehicle service problems, or technician-related challenges.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in automotive repair and service, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.

• Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of automotive systems, diagnostics, repairs, and service operations. ASE certification or equivalent technical certification preferred.

• Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage a diverse team in a fast-paced environment.

• Customer Service: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to handle customer concerns and provide outstanding service.

• Business Acumen: Strong financial and organizational skills, with experience managing budgets, revenue, and expenses.

• Computer Skills: Proficiency in using service management software, scheduling tools, and other relevant technology.

Preferred Skills:

• ASE certifications (Automotive Service Excellence)

• Prior experience with dealership or independent service operations

• Knowledge of manufacturer-specific service protocols and standards

• Bilingual language skills (optional, based on location)

Working Conditions:

• Full-time position with occasional evenings or weekend shifts.

• Physical demands may include standing for extended periods, working with automotive tools and equipment, and occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.
