Position: Aviation Administration (Intern)Reports to: Finance & Administration ManagerDivision: Airport Management Services Division Location: Republic AirportBasic FunctionsIntern will rotate through Accounting, Administration, Maintenance and Operations departments. This position will not be certified to operate a vehicle on their own within the Aeronautical Operation Area (AOA) of the airport which includes all ramps, taxiways and runways. This position is for ninety (90) days working a maximum of twenty-five (25) hours per week between the hours of 9am and 4pm. Accounting (3 weeks)
- Participation in the preparation and distribution of billing for airport fees
- Filing of invoices and checks
- Research aircraft activity and ownership information
- Research vendor information
- Follow up on delinquent accounts
Administration (2 weeks)
- Perform filing, including sorting and arranging of material into files according to prescribed system
- Open and sort incoming and inter-company mail for distribution. Prepare outgoing letters and packages
- Answer and screen phone calls in a professional manner
- Greet visitors and take messages
Maintenance Department (3 weeks)
- Assist with airside and landside maintenance tasks
- Assist with preventative maintenance on equipment
- Assist with building maintenance tasks
Operations (4 weeks)
- Record aircraft operations information
- Assist with daily inspections
- Assist with security inspections
- Update department reports
Skills & Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in an aviation related undergraduate program or be a recent graduate of an accredited college with an Associates, Bachelor of Science or related degree.
- May be required to work under adverse weather conditions.
- Must pass drug test and complete New York State Support Staff fingerprinting process.
