Backend Engineer - NYC Hybrid - iO Associates - US : Job Details

About the Role

We are on a mission to revolutionize how security and DevOps teams address cloud security management. We are building a platform that provides immediate fixes for infrastructure as code deployments, eliminating the need for manual remediation efforts. This innovative approach significantly reduces the time to address security vulnerabilities, as a majority of cloud breaches stem from misconfigurations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services that power our AI engine, enabling data ingestion, insight generation, and delivering valuable information to customers.
• Design and build robust APIs using GraphQL and REST.
• Develop and implement parsers for various Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) languages to translate AI-generated fixes into actionable code modifications for our customers.
• Ensure secure and reliable deployment of services within a microservices architecture.
• Analyze data to identify key insights that inform product decisions and enhance the performance of our AI-driven remediation engine.
• Contribute to various aspects of the business as needed, reflecting the dynamic and fast-paced environment of a growing startup.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in backend software development.
• Proven experience in API design using OpenAPI specifications.
• Expertise in using Typescript and Javascript for Node.js applications.
• Strong understanding of API design principles, including schema definition for GraphQL and REST.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
• Proficiency in SQL, including the ability to query, join datasets, perform data transformations, and execute aggregation operations.
• Experience in backend service development using both loosely typed (e.g., Javascript, Python) and strongly typed languages (e.g., Java, Go).
• Proven ability to design and work with relational and key-value databases such as PostgreSQL and DynamoDB.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in developing data solutions for security products and a strong understanding of security data.
• Expertise in developing parsers and metaprogramming, or experience with creating developer productivity frameworks/libraries.
• Strong proficiency in Go.
• Advanced knowledge of GraphQL API design.
• Experience building and operating production workloads on public cloud providers using Infrastructure as Code.
• 3+ years of experience with Type-Safe languages.
• Demonstrated ability to take initiative and independently identify and address critical issues.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code and cloud architecture best practices.
• Strong preference for candidates located in NYC or with demonstrated experience in successful remote work arrangements.
