Baggage Control Room Operator - Minneapolis / Saint Paul AirportJob Category: Airport OperationsRequisition Number: BAGGA012753Posted: November 15, 2024Full-TimeRate: $28 USD per hourLocationsMinneapolis, MN 55450, USADescriptionOVERVIEWThe Baggage Control Room Operator/Lead oversees the Baggage Handling System (BHS), ensuring smooth operations by inspecting, clearing blockages, and repairing equipment. Responsibilities include coordinating with staff to uphold service standards, addressing issues like jams and equipment malfunctions, and managing inquiries from stakeholders. Proficiency in control room equipment and software, including Microsoft Windows, BHS monitoring applications, radios, and telephones is required.RESPONSIBILITIESMonitor and interact with the BHS control system via the Human Machine Interface (HMI).Report on BHS alarms/events to inspect, clear blockages/jams, and repair failed equipment as appropriate.Coordinate personnel and resources to ensure minimum service requirements are maintained.Address BHS-related inquiries from stakeholders in a courteous and efficient manner.Be attentive to the condition of the entire BHS to respond immediately to events or unusual behavior, including jams, e-stops, faults, and equipment malfunctions.Be proficient in using all equipment and interfaces within the BHS control room.Implement call tree notifications based on equipment failures and fallback procedures.Perform other duties as necessary to support control room operations.QUALIFICATIONS18 years of age or older.Eligible to work in the United States.High School Diploma/GED required.Valid driver's license required (with clean driving record).Aviation Industry experience a plus.High attention to detail and organization.Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus.Proficient in MS Office and various software applications.Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.Pass a background check and drug screen.Ability to use electronic devices including tablets and computers.Excellent problem-solving skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.Ability to work any day/shift, including holidays, within a 24/7 operation.Must possess versatility and flexibility to work with changing priorities.Must be able to report to work consistently and maintain good attendance.Ability to work independently and as part of various teams.May be assigned other duties as required.PHYSICAL ACTIVITY/WORKING CONDITIONS MAY INCLUDE:Ability to lift up to 90 pounds.Prolonged standing and walking in an indoor/outdoor environment.Must be able to push, pull, reach, and grasp.Must be able to climb and work at elevated heights.Work in a fast-paced environment.Hand/eye coordination is required.Exposure to varying climates and moderate to high noise levels.Tasks may involve repetitive motions of the arms, wrists, hands, and/or fingers.Compensation:The pay rate listed is what the company reasonably expects to pay for this position.
