Job DescriptionWhat You'll Do:
As a Baker at Festival Foods, you will:
- Recipe & Production Control: Follow recipes and production lists precisely to ensure high-quality bakery and pastry items. Monitor dates and freshness, handle outdated items properly, and report shrinkage.
- Health & Safety: Adhere to all Health Department guidelines and Festival sanitation practices. Maintain cleanliness and organization in prep areas, coolers, freezers, and dry storage.
- Guest Service: Provide excellent customer service to our guests by assisting them with finding items, taking special orders, and addressing concerns. Answer phone calls with proper etiquette and ensure guest satisfaction.
- Stock Monitoring: Keep an eye on stock levels and service floor needs, ensuring proper assortment and production-level, especially for early mornings and evenings.
- Quality Standards: Maintain food safety logs and ensure all quality standards, including quantity expectations, are met by 10 am and 5 pm daily.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with all Bakery associates to meet department goals and support a positive team environment.
- Honor Commitments: Regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule, and adequate notice to find a replacement for occasional absences
- Support the Team: Other duties as assigned
What We're Looking For:

To be successful in the Baker role, you should have:
- Customer Focus: Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with guests and all personnel.
- Effective Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly assess and resolve issues in a dynamic and stressful work environment, while supporting team members.
- Safety Awareness: Comprehensive understanding of safety requirements and company safety policies, including proper training on ovens, lifting techniques, trash compactor, baler, mixers, slicing and packaging machinery, and other equipment.
- Retail Expertise: Knowledge of the retail food business and perishable department operations, with the ability to make timely and effective decisions.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Physical Demands: Stand in one spot for a long period of time; bend, stoop, and kneel regularly (70% of the time). Full range of upper body motion. Lift up to 60 pounds on a frequent basis (50% of the time). Frequent repetitive motion of hands and wrists.
- Work Environment: Occasional exposure to extreme temperatures (20% of the time). Frequently near moving machinery (70% of the time).
Schedule:
The Baker is an hourly position with a work schedule that includes early mornings, afternoons, weekends, and holidays. Flexibility to work evening or overnight shifts as needed.
