About Us:

Dam Good™ English Muffins, is a women-owned, family-operated, mission-driven brand located in Peekskill, NY that makes four varieties of square shaped sourdough English muffins!

Our brand name has a couple of different references:

1. We got our start nearby the New Croton Dam located in Cortlandt, NY,

2. We do Dam Good™ in our community and the world at large,

3. We make Dam Good™ English muffins!

You can find us at our online store, local mom & pop shops around the NY Tri-State area, through home delivery services Fresh Direct, Hudson Milk Co., as well as in the freezer section of select Whole Foods Markets in NY & NJ and Wegmans!

HOURS:

Sunday through Thursday - 6:30am (sharp) - 2:30pm (flexible)

JOB SUMMARY:

We are looking for a passionate, skilled, and hard working bread baker who has at least 1-2 years of previous experience with high volume (sourdough) bread to join our dedicated team.*This role requires a strong foundation in culinary arts, specifically bread baking and /or fermentation.*

You will work with our bakery crew to execute production runs of our sourdough English muffins while helping and contributing towards improving our current processes as we grow and scale.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Requirements:

• Proven experience (1-2 years) working in a high volume bread bakery environment
• Strong communication skills with team members and managers
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail, organization, and timelines
• A strong work ethic and self-starter attitude
• Be comfortable with change and the ability to adapt easily as needed – we're growing and are looking for a collaborative team player
• Work under our SQF (Safe Quality Foods) standards (including maintaining necessary records), strong knowledge of food safety practices and regulations
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends or holidays as needed
• Help deliver training to other members of production team (when needed)
• Non-smoking environment, inside and out
• Preferred - ServSafe certification and/or experience with HACCP (hazard analysis critical control points) plans

Physical Demands:

• Ability to stand and work for shifts of 8 hours
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Constant use of both hands

OTHER:

• 7 - 8 hour shifts 5 days a week (Sunday - Thursday); 6:30am - 2:30pm.
• We're looking for someone who is flexible and who is looking to grow with us long term (more than 1 year). As such, the position and roles can change over time.
• We work all holidays except Thanksgiving & Christmas.
• To ensure that both parties are aligned and a good match, we require a 2-day paid ($16/hour) working trial before proceeding with any hiring or further training processes.

DRESS CODE:

• Casual, comfortable clothing and shoes, baker coat and hair nets will be provided.

COMPENSATION:

Starting at $18, with a potential increase depending on experience to $20/hour after an initial training and onboarding; commensurate with experience.
