POSITION SUMMARYThe Baking & Pastry Assistant is assigned to support and assist Chef Instructors and staff on all aspects of bakeshop production classes for the Baking & Pastry program, as well as performing a wide variety of administrative duties supporting the needs of the Chef Instructors and Associate Deans.Shifts Available: AM and PM, weekdays.SHIFTS
ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide exceptional operational support and assistance to the Baking & Pastry program.
- Support setup for Chef's demos, scaling and producing products.
- Assist with bakeshop production to ensure high quality food within Institute guidelines.
- Help with special events such as graduations and holiday production..
- Provide general administrative support to the department.
- Any and all other duties as assigned.
PREREQUISITES
- Currently taking or have completed Baking and Pastry Techniques, preferred.
PREFERRED PRIOR EXPERIENCES
- Currently enrolled in or completed 6 additional baking lab credits at the CIA
- Serve-safe certified or equivalent food handling certification
- Customer Service

Successful applicant must be able to perform all related functions of the assignment which may include working nights and weekends, ability to bend reach and stand for long periods of time, lifting and carrying of items up to fifty (50) pounds, and the ability to withstand high ambient temperatures.
