Job Summary
Seeking a candidate with integrity, is reliable, and maintains a positive outlook in all situations to help oversee all contracted banquets, bars, and all variety of events. They lead, train, and coordinate the events team to ensure top-notch experiences for clients. Additionally, they assist with administrative tasks like scheduling, payroll, budgeting, and communication with vendors. Collaborating with the Banquet & Event Operations Manager and Supervisors, Sales team, and Chef/Culinary Operations Manager, they strive to meet client expectations and forecast staffing needs effectively. This position demands strong organizational skills, clear communication, and a dedication to maintaining high standards in event management.

* Able to work varied work schedule, 7 days a week, including evenings, weekends and Holidays as early as 5:00 am to as late as 3:00 am.
* Must be flexible if schedule changes last minute and sometimes the same day.
* Must be able to work on multiple tasks and follow-up on a variety of details to assure successful events.
* Must obtain regulatory certifications; CA Food Handler card within 30 days, Servsafe Manager certification within 6 months and Responsible Beverage Service(RBS) within 60 days of hire.
Job Tasks
* Ensure that banquets and events are coordinated and executed to the highest level of professionalism. Event types include group picnics (Beach Parties), grad events, school dances, conferences, banquets, trade shows, attraction rentals, in-house catering, etc.
* Read and execute events based on Event Planner documents (BEOs). Assist as liaison between sales department, chef/kitchen manager and event management team to ensure that the clients' expectations are met.
* Help Banquet & Event Operations Manager to manage, supervise, train, evaluate, schedule, and motivate event, facility service, and bar staff.
* Assist Banquet & Event Operations Manager with staff planning, staff scheduling, updating staff timecards, staff documentation, and administrative work.
* Ensure the quality and maintenance of the event facilities and equipment. Put in work requests or place supply orders as needed.
* Perform Events Manager duties as required.
* Ensure safety of clients and staff by watching for potential safety hazards including intoxication during an event.
* Attend regular Events team meetings.
* Prepare event summaries, evaluate to ensure operational standards were met.

Qualifications: Training and Experience
Preferred candidates will have a minimum of three years of supervisory experience in banquet or restaurant settings, with at least one year of experience in event management and bartending.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Proven track record in effectively training, evaluating, and motivating staff.
* Proficiency in computer operations for data management, including scheduling, auditing payroll, report writing, and creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
* Experience in implementing SOPs to streamline operations and enhance efficiency.
* Ability to establish and enforce standards, holding team members accountable for their performance.
* Mastery of banquet, conference, trade show, and meeting setups.
* In-depth understanding of banquets and adherence to food safety (HACCP) standards.
* Comprehensive knowledge of liquor laws, labor laws, and safety regulations.
* Strong leadership abilities, including team management and staff evaluation.
* Exceptional customer service skills with a focus on client satisfaction and conflict resolution.
* Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
* Analytical mindset for policy and procedure evaluation to continuously improve event quality.
* Commitment to maintaining a professional appearance.
Physical Requirements
* Ability to walk for up to twelve plus hours and to walk up and down stairs.
* Ability to lift, carry and transport event related supplies and equipment. e.g.: chairs, tables, umbrellas, canopies, etc.
* Ability to move and place equipment weighing up to 35 lbs. several times a day.
* Ability to hear normal conversation on the phone, 2-way radio and in person.
* Ability to see, produce and read agreements, instructions and correspondence
* Able to move through crowds, tables and kitchen work areas.
* Able to work under pressure

Licenses / Insurance
Possess and maintain a valid California U.S. Driver's License at the time of hire. Required to maintain automobile liability coverage with a minimum of $15,000.00 bodily injury one person/$30,000.00 bodily injury total accident/$5,000.00 property damage coverage per California's minimum liability insurance requirements. (Required if the employee will at anytime use own vehicle to perform company business functions.)
