Job Description :

Judith is a restaurant opening this fall in Sewanee, TN. We have a commitment to quality and service, and a food program that aligns with that vision. We are seeking someone with experience and/or willingness to learn and grow in this position. We hope to create a close-knit team that embraces sustainability, local food production, and the art of hospitality. We will be open for dinner, from Thursday through Monday. Nights and weekends are required.

Job Requirements Include

  • A minimum of 1+ years of bartending experience
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • A positive personality
  • A respectful and team oriented attitude toward all staff with a lead by example mentality
  • A passion for local, organic, sustainable and responsibly sourced food
  • Thorough knowledge of food, cocktails, beer, wine, and spirits
  • Flexible schedule with ability to work nights and weekends
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds

Job Responsibilities Include

  • Maintaining a base knowledge and understanding of classic cookery, while having an advanced understanding of wine, beer, and cocktails
  • Keeping menu and beverage knowledge current as menus evolve
  • Responsible for the complete sales and service of food and beverage in bar and bar area
  • Serving beverages to bar guests as well as producing beverages needed in other areas of the restaurant
  • Assistance in ongoing development of house cocktail program and seasonal updates to cocktails
  • Communicating effectively with other bartenders and FOH employees to create smooth flow of drinks in/out of bar
  • Mise en place prep, cocktail creation, beer and wine service, and table service
  • Assisting with inventory and helping to maintain bar equipment to ensure safety and cleanliness
  • Responsible for consistently providing restaurant guests with friendly and professional service, ensuring 100% guest satisfaction.
  • Process cash, credit, and gift card transactions
  • Could be responsible for opening, closing, and running side work throughout shift, including polishing glassware and flatware
  • Experience with farm to table menus, craft cocktails, beer, and biodynamic/natural/organic wines are a plus.
About The Chef: Chef/owner Julia Sullivan is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, she honed her skills at top New York restaurants like Blue Hill at Stone Barns, Per Se, and Franny's before returning to her hometown to open Henrietta Red in 2017.
