Job Description Bank Street School for Children - Children's Programs Role: Basketball Clinic Coach (Part-time role) Schedule: Weekly on Monday's from 7:15 am - 8:15 AM (from October 1, 2024 -October 31st, 2024; opportunities for occasional substitute work) This position runs along the SFC school calendar for the month of October. Job Summary: Bank Street School for Children's (BSC) seeks a coach for our Upper School morning basketball clinic. We seek a dynamic individual who embodies our BSC sportsmanship, integrity, and youth development values. Our basketball coach will conduct practice sessions under the supervision of the after-school director and auxiliary programs team. The ideal candidate will have experience coaching 5th-8th grade students and understanding social and emotional learning. Responsibilities:
  • Conduct 1 to 2 weekly clinics; willing to coach as early as 7:15 am.
  • Build relationships with students, faculty, and family members
  • Enforce BSC principles and values of equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • Model and encourage positive youth behaviors.
  • Supervise students and staff members during games and practices.
  • Is an effective communicator who can mentor students.
  • Model professional leadership and behavior by adhering to BSC rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of appropriate safety measures to ensure the well-being of students
  • Oversee the safe transfer of children to daytime classes
  • Candidates must possess or be able to obtain First Aid and CPR certification.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma required, and Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Has basketball playing experience or coaching experience with youth-aged athletes. Experience working with school-age children.
  • Experience with youth sports and family engagement activities preferred.
  • Willingness to collaborate and work as part of a team, as well as develop skills in working with individual children, small groups, and the whole class.
