Position Title Behavior Health Admission Assessment Manager Days - Full Time Marillac Campus Position Summary / Career Interest: The Behavioral Health Admission and Assessment Manager is responsible for managing staff in charge of admissions and assessments of patients and their families, including crisis intervention, patient registration, clinical assessment, and utilization review. This position provides direct supervision, manages daily operations and acts as a liaison between the admission and assessment department. The Behavioral Health Admissions and Assessment Manager collaborates with other disciples to ensure the highest quality of care for patients and families.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions - Responsible for continuity and quality of patient care and treatment by assigning and maintaining department schedule that meets the needs of our patients
- Oversees process of collecting and evaluating information about the needs of the patient population, and reporting information to the multidisciplinary team to ensure services are available to patient/family.
- Manages the clinical assessment process which include, reviewing assessment criteria with Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP), creating an initial treatment plan with patient and family, and completing pre-certification with insurance companies.
- Manages the utilization review process, including prior authorization and concurrent review, utilizing Interqual guidelines and other internal utilization criteria
- Collaborates with nursing, direct care and therapy departments to ensure adequate resource availability for incoming patients.
- Provides support for department employees to develop crisis plans to ensure safety for patients and employees
- Tracks, analyzes and develops strategies to address outlier performance of utilization metrics including but not limited to, trends at facility by practitioner & by payor, and assessment and readmissions trends.
- Manages the patient registration and insurance pre-certification process
- Assists the Medical Director in the development and application of utilization criteria.
- Directs staff in effective and efficient auditing of patient care and utilization of services.
- Completes assessments, pre-authorizations or provide direct care service provision due to hospital census or crisis situation as needed.
- Accepts responsibility and accountability for achievement of optimal outcomes within their scope of practice. Follows policies, procedures and standards; adheres to a professional code of ethics. Assumes responsibility for the risk and safety issues associated with the position.
- Assures quality service for patients by enforcing rules, regulations, and legal requirements with clients, documenting events of the assessment and registration process
- Maintains agency credibility by establishing working relationships with sponsoring, advisory, and related service agencies.
- Promotes the agency by ensuring an understanding of program services available for clients; publicizes activities and accomplishments.
- Provides a clinical experience for interns by negotiating learning objectives; supervises practice and caseload management, teaching theory and its application; evaluates skills and personal and professional growth, ensuring identification with the profession.
- Continues education, participates in workshops and reviews professional publications and establishing personal networks.
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience - Master's Degree from accredited university in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or Marriage and Family Therapy
- 5 or more years of related experience
Required Licensure and Certification - Licensed Professional Counselor(LPC) - State Board of Behavioral Sciences Master's level licensure in State of Kansas OR
- Licensed Masters Social Worker(LMSW) - State Board of Behavioral Sciences in State of Kansas OR
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist(LMFT) - State Board of Behavioral Sciences Master's level licensure in State of Kansas
Preferred Licensure and Certification - Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors (LCPC). - State Board of Behavioral Sciences in State of Kansas OR
- Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker(LSCSW) - State Board of Behavioral Sciences in State of Kansas OR
- Licensed Psychologist (LP) - State Board of Behavioral Sciences in State of Kansas OR
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist(LMFT) - State Board of Behavioral Sciences in State of Kansas
Knowledge Requirements - Computer literate and high knowledge of various computer software programs
- Must be able to build relationships with a variety of people and sustain those relationships
- Must be highly organized and accountable
