Position Type: Support Staff/ Educational Support Group Date Posted: 11/18/2024 Location: Success Academy Date Available: 2024-25 School Year Closing Date: Until filled District:   Saginaw Public Schools    GENERAL SUMMARY: The Behavior Interventionist will participate in the development, implementation, and ongoing operation of a comprehensive leadership, civic engagement, and service-learning program. S/he will work closely with academic and community partners to integrate learning, service, and leadership to empower students to become socially responsible decision-makers. Ability to work independently PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, and/or walk, may be required to lift up to 30 lbs. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Work collaboratively with staff to provide intervention support for students and parents (MISS, peer mediation, conflict resolution, attendance and academic plans, etc.). 2. Develop and implement individual, small group discussions/strategies to help students meet academic and social success; 3. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to prepare students to successfully adapt to rigor of high school. 4. Support instructional personnel in implementation of students' positive behavioral support plans 5. Identify referral services for students requiring intensive counseling and behavior support methodologies. 6. Monitor Title IA students' behavior, attendance, and academic progress to make appropriate referrals for additional support/intervention. 7. Provide direct services for academic/behavior Interventions and system of support for students, Intervention Team meetings (IT), Tutoring, Bilingual Support, etc. 8. Implement conflict resolution/peer mediation programming 9. Work with counselors and social worker to maintain an effective learning community in the school 10. Collaborate with instructional staff to initiate, design and implement positive behavior support and other programs to meet assessed needs of students 11. Work with other professionals in a multi-agency context 12. Work with Title IA eligible pupils and groups of pupils when appropriate; to help in meeting behavior targets and in maintaining a positive and productive teaching and learning environment. 13. Enforce discipline as necessary in accordance with District 's Policies and Procedures Governing Student Behavior and Discipline 14. Maintain updated certifications and files regarding Title IA eligible students EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCES: 1. Education: Experience in social work, counseling, behavioral intervention programs/services or related field required. Bachelor's Degree preferred. 2. Experience working with at-risk student population 3. Experience with behaviorally challenged children 4. Experience working with children and parents in the home/school setting SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. Must be willing to learn changing technologies and to assume new responsibilities required by the introduction of new services and upgrades to software and equipment 2. Attend any training as mandated WORKING CONDITIONS: 1. School and office environment where there is no physical discomfort due to temperature, dust, or the like 2.
