Job DetailsJob Location Boys and Girls Club Truckee Meadows - Reno, NV Salary Range $47,000.00 - $47,000.00 Salary Job Shift Day DescriptionBehavior Support and Training SpecialistEmpowering Staff, Supporting Youth, Transforming Behaviors. Our Behavior Support and Training Specialist is responsible for assessing behavioral concerns by analyzing schedules, policies, and practices to identify environmental factors contributing to member behavior issues. This role includes training staff on effective classroom practices, fostering positive interactions with children and families, and implementing behavior prevention, intervention, and classroom management strategies. When needed, the specialist will collaborate with staff to develop individualized behavior plans and targeted interventions for members requiring additional support. Our Mission: To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as caring, productive, responsible citizens. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Conduct assessments of current practices, schedules, routines, and behavioral norms.
  • Provide immediate support to program staff and coordinators when behavioral issues arise.
  • Utilize the Safety Thermometer to measure the impact of assessments, training, and interventions.
  • Support staff by working with challenging children in the classroom and providing small group social activities for those with high-risk behavior needs.
  • Identify children with behavioral needs in collaboration with program staff and coordinators.
  • Develop individualized behavior plans for children with high-risk behaviors.
  • Train staff on trauma-informed responses to inappropriate behaviors.
  • Provide regular classroom support to promote developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Contribute to training materials and facilitate training at All Staff, Coordinator, and Director meetings as requested.
  • Manage program reports, activity tracking, and expenditures within the approved budget.
  • Prepare and submit reports to the Family PLUS Director as required.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with children, parents, and co-workers.
  • Accept and respond to referrals from all Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows locations.
  • Provide appropriate community referrals to support children and families.
  • Establish relationships with behavioral health providers for children and teens needing additional support.
  • Meet regularly with the Family PLUS Director to review program progress.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions as required.

    • 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

QualificationsSKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse population and professionally represent BGCTM in the community.
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to compile and analyze data and provide timely reports.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining professionalism.
  • Reliable and punctual, with a strong commitment to assigned tasks and responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
CERTIFICATIONS/ASSOCIATIONS:
  • After hire, will receive mandatory paid on-line and in-person training, including Safety Skills, CPR/First Aid, etc.
  • After hire, will be registered with Boys and Girls Clubs of America.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Two years of experience working with at-risk children and children of trauma.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Must be able to perform duties which require walking, talking, hearing, standing, sitting, and/or bending for long periods of time. May occasionally be required to kneel, run and/or climb.
  • Must be able to use hands and arms to enter data into the computer, use the telephone and other office equipment.
  • Must be able to perform surface and deep cleaning, as needed.
  • Must be able to lift, move manipulate and or hold objects up to 45 pounds. Objects that exceed the 45-pound weight limit require additional assistance when moving, lifting or manipulating.
