Substance Use Disorder Behavioral Health TechnicianFull Time - All Shifts Available- 6AM to 2:30PM - AM Shift
- 2:00PM to 1030PM - PM Shift
- 10:00PM to 6:30AM - NOC Shift (+$1 differential for NOC Shift employees)
Wage: $21-$24/hr DOETemecula Recovery Center, a Generations Healthcare facility is hiring for an experienced SUD Behavioral Health Technician to join their team.
Position Overview:The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) provides direct and support services to clients suffering from substance abuse or a co-occurring disorder. The main functions of the BHT are 1) supervision of the clients, 2) ensuring their participation in treatment related services, 3) overseeing client safety and daily activities, and 4) monitoring and/or transporting clientele.
Key Responsibilities: - Engages clients in therapeutic activities as appropriate.
- Provides appropriate support and structure for clients; interacts continually with clients.
- Provides a brief overview of the residential program in regard to program rules, procedures, and services with each new client.
- Ensure resident/participant, staff, volunteer, and vendor safety is adhered to at all times.
- Maintains order and ensures compliance with rules and regulations; ensures that clients conduct themselves in an orderly manner.
- Responsible for the cleanliness of assigned property as needed.
- Enforces program rules at all times.
- Conduct searches when needed; inventory client personal property with clients upon intakes; utilize good communication skills in working with clients, their families, and significant others on a daily basis and while in crisis.
- Ensure that the client activity and treatment schedule is adhered to; must be a role model at all times
- Distributes daily mail to clients and observes confidentiality standards.
- Reports to the supervisor of any discrepancies in the client's whereabouts.
- Responds appropriately to all medical and other emergencies.
- Confiscates and secures any contraband found and notifies the appropriate supervisor on duty in their absence.
- Randomly inspects all rooms, common areas, hallways and bathrooms
- Diligently monitor clients at all times during shift.
- Monitors and document's clients for signs of medical distress and/or behavioral concerns on an ongoing basis,
- Attend all mandatory training and in-house conferences/seminars.
- Adheres to client privacy and rights; maintains confidentiality of all medical, clinical, financial, or other sensitive materials and information in printed, electronic or verbal form, which may jeopardize the privacy of clients and/or employees. Accesses and uses the minimum necessary client identifiable information to perform job responsibilities and only for authorized purposes.
- Transport residents and participants to outside meetings, appointments, and outings on time according to the schedule.
- Remain in communication with the supervisor regarding drives when needed; ensure that the interior portion of the company vehicles are clean at all times; monitor clients at all times during shift and communicate regularly with the clinical team.
- Responsible for following department protocol for checking-out vehicles, proper use of equipment and maintaining contact with the supervisor.

- Employee demonstrates understanding of intake, consents, search, and safety procedures.
- Employee demonstrates understanding of discharge preparation and procedures.
- Employee exhibits knowledge on Transportation Protocols (when applicable).
- Employee has an understanding of Ethics, HIPAA, and Confidentiality to perform their job, per their job description.
- Employee understands and demonstrates competency in accurate documentation.
- Employee understands and demonstrates competency in documenting a medical emergency/transfer of a patient to an Emergency Room (ER).
- Employee understands and demonstrates competency in protocols for high / moderate risk self- harm patients.
- Employee understands and demonstrates competency in completing and documenting patient rounds.
- Employee understands and demonstrates competency in waived testing.
Educational and Experience Requirements:- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Registered through California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals (CCAPP), Addiction Counselor Certification Board of California (ACCBC), California Association for Alcohol/Drug Educators (CAADE), or California Association of DUI Treatment Programs (CADTP) preferred
- Valid CA Driver's License with ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check
- Current Adult CPR certification required
- Current Adult First Aid certification required
- One year of experience in a substance use disorder treatment program or other mental health setting preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - Knowledge of relevant regulations, policies, and ethical guidelines related to substance use treatment preferred.
- Knowledge of basic principles, practices and techniques of mental health and drug and alcohol intervention.
- Knowledge of Joint Commission Standards preferred.
- Knowledge of Title 9 Licensing Regulations and DHCS AOD Certification Standards preferred.
- Knowledge of State & Federal Statutes Regarding Patient Confidentiality Laws preferred.
- Knowledge of currently utilized technology and EMR software (i.e. PCC, Kipu) preferred.
- Proficient Verbal & Written Communication Skills.
- Ability to work as a team member in a collaborative, fast-paced work environment.
- Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under stressful conditions and be flexible in relation to department needs.
