ion: Behavioral Support AidePosition SummaryBehavioral Support Aide Services are provided to eligible members based on medical necessity. Behavioral Support Aides utilize clinically validated practices to identify functions of target behaviors. They monitor the member's behavior, assist with crisis intervention, provide social skills training, prevent the occurrence of problem/challenging behaviors, utilize crisis intervention strategies, teach appropriate functionally equivalent replacement behavior, react therapeutically to problematic behavior, and assess the success of the intervention through progress monitoring. Additionally, they offer family support services to aid parents or primary caregivers with the knowledge and skills to address specific behavioral and/or developmental treatment needs.Key Responsibilities Monitor and document member behavior. Assist with crisis intervention and implement crisis intervention strategies. Provide social skills training to members. Prevent the occurrence of problem or challenging behaviors. Teach appropriate functionally equivalent replacement behaviors. React therapeutically to problematic behaviors. Assess the success of interventions through progress monitoring. Support family members or primary caregivers with knowledge and skills to address behavioral and/or developmental treatment needs.Staff QualificationsThe service provider must engage qualified and experienced staff to render services in accordance with currently accepted standards of medical practice. The following practitioner types are authorized to provide Behavioral Support Aide Services under an approved prior authorization:Registered Behavior Technician (RBT):Education and Training Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent and completion of 40 hours of RBT training course.Supervision: Must be supervised by a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA/BCBA-D) or a Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA).Paraprofessional:Education and Training Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent.Supervision: Implements the service plan under the supervision of a BCBA/BCBA-D or BCaBA.Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), trained by a BCBA:Education and Training Requirements: Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate or pass status for a written competency examination approved by the National League of Nursing, Community and Home Accreditation Program (CHAP); or Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO); or National Home Care (NAHC).Supervision: RBT must be supervised by either a BCBA/BCBA-D.Additional Requirements Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
