Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Benefits Administrator to lead the design, implementation, and administration of our employee benefits programs and leave management processes. In this role, you will collaborate with brokers and vendors, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and provide exceptional support to our employees. You will also oversee Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) administration, ensuring all leave programs align with organizational policies and legal standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Benefits Administration:
- Manage employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), and voluntary benefits.
- Oversee monthly billing processes, ensuring accurate data gathering and payment requests for all group plans.
- Collaborate with brokers to evaluate, select, and renew benefit offerings, balancing cost-effectiveness with employee needs.
- Ensure compliance with ACA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, and state-specific regulations.
- Plan and execute annual open enrollment, including preparing materials, delivering presentations, and managing system updates.
FMLA and Leave Management:
- Administer FMLA and other leave requests, ensuring timely communication and compliance with legal requirements.
- Maintain accurate leave records and generate periodic reports for HR leadership.
- Serve as a resource for employees, offering guidance on leave eligibility, policies, and documentation.
Employee Support:
- Act as the primary contact for employee benefits inquiries, delivering timely and accurate resolutions.
- Educate employees on available benefits and leave options to ensure proper utilization.
Vendor and Broker Relations:
- Build and maintain relationships with benefits brokers, insurance carriers, and other third-party vendors.
- Negotiate contracts and manage vendor performance to ensure quality service and cost efficiency.
Data Management and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate benefit and leave records within HRIS systems.
- Analyze benefit utilization and cost trends to support strategic decision-making.
Policy and Compliance:
- Assist in developing and updating benefits and leave policies to align with organizational goals and legal requirements.
- Monitor industry trends and legislative changes, advising HR leadership on necessary adjustments.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
- Professional certification in HR or benefits management (e.g. SHRM-CP, CEBS) is preferred but not mandatory.
- Minimum of 3-5 years experience in benefit administration, including FMLA and leave management.
- Proven track record of working with brokers and vendors, including negotiating benefits packages and managing vendor relationships.
- Familiarity with HRIS systems and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Experience in the manufacturing or food industry is a plus but not required.
