Under the direction of the Benefits Manager, the Benefits Analyst assists in administering and communicating Midland Health benefits programs. Assists in the administration and maintenance of benefits programs, including medical, pharmacy, retirement plans, etc. Monitors, researches and performs analysis on current processes, trends and compliance requirements. Responsible for creating and maintaining employee benefit files and for supporting employees and plan members with questions and issues. Oversees key processes including FMLA, Health Savings Accounts, short-term disability, long-term disability, invoicing and Affordable Care Act requirements.

SHIFT AND SCHEDULE

Monday - Friday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

  • Processes accurate and completed benefit documentation in a timely manner.
  • Enters all benefit information into HRIS. Serves as backup HRIS Coordinator to enter new hire, status change, etc. information.
  • Develops and prepares packets for new employee orientation and all status changes.
  • Assists in developing and presenting New Employee Orientation benefit materials.
  • Orders medical, dental, vision and HSA cards as requested.
  • Performs special projects as assigned, including annual enrollment. Ensures required deadlines are met to achieve on-time project completion.
  • Works with internal and external partners to test and update systems for accuracy of data exchanges; conduct audits and implement solutions as needed to correct defects. Act as a liaison with designated department personnel and third-party vendors; understand and identify benefits technology requirements to support system testing, data interfaces, data audits, development of test plans and execution.
  • Maintains a positive atmosphere by acting and communicating in a timely manner; acts in a manner to facilitate collaborative cross functional and department teams.
  • Investigates and resolves questions regarding retirement plans and health & welfare benefit plans. Provides assistance in administering 403(b), 457 and pension plans. Determines proper course of action to resolve escalated employee issues after reviewing facts and research.

  • Provides functional support for third party benefits administration systems and file feeds including documentation, testing, monitoring successful file transmission, ensuring successful loading of data to applicable system, and addressing data issues that arise with file loads.
  • Provides functional support on payroll/HRIS as it relates to benefits, including benefit deductions and performing system audits and testing.
  • Assists in the preparation review and presentation of communication materials.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • BS degree preferred.
  • Five (5) or more years Benefit Coordinator or Analyst experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with HRIS systems, including design, development and testing.
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing Microsoft Excel Pivot Tables and VLookups.
  • Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Customer service expert; telephone and email follow up beyond compare. Ability to verbally communicate with all levels of the organization and vendors.
  • Stand up training experience required.
  • Ability to work efficiently under conditions of multiple deadlines and changing priorities to produce a large volume of high-quality material with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Microsoft Office experience required.
