A nonprofit organization in Midtown Manhattan is seeking a Benefits Specialist for a hybrid role. This position offers the opportunity to make an impact while working in a mission-driven environment.
Hybrid schedule: 2-3 days onsite
Hours: 9am-5pm
Pay rate: $35/hr
Responsibilities:
- Manage all leave of absence requests (FMLA, STD, LTD, NYPFL, Workers' Compensation)
- Serve as the subject matter expert for accommodation requests
- Interpret and administer all applicable state and federal leave policies
- Work with the HR team and third party leave administrators to ensure that all relevant completed medical documentation is submitted in a timely manner
- Work with employees and managers to evaluate ADA requests
- Manage all administrative aspects of leave and workers' compensation claims
- Work closely with the Payroll Department to ensure that pay for staff is accurate and correct
- Conduct Benefits Orientation for new hires
- Assist with open enrollment
- Assist in developing benefits training for managers and staff
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree with at least 3-5 years of related experience
- Proven experience and knowledge of relevant employment law including ADA, FMLA, Disability policies and Worker's Compensation is required
- Excellent interpersonal verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptional organizational, analytical and detail-oriented skills
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- The ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality and discretion
