Our Mission: To help hard-working New Yorkers build better tomorrows Our Vision: Be New York's most loved financial institution by helping our members build their best financial futures Overview: The Benefits Specialist is responsible for coordinating the administration of all benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short and long-term disability, and 401(k), pension & 457(b) retirement plans. Responsibilities:
  • Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
  • Conducts new-hire orientations.
  • Performs quality checks of benefits-related data.
  • Distributes all benefits enrollment materials and determines eligibility.
  • Enrolls employees with carriers and processes life event changes.
  • Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries.
  • Processes and administers all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability and FMLA.
  • Effectively interprets FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities.
  • Coordinates the open enrollment process.
  • Provides necessary reports for allocation/billing charges.
  • Perform other related duties as requested and special projects as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration/Management required.
  • 2+ years' experience in benefits administration.
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certified credential preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Ability to perform in a high-volume environment and meet deadlines while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
  • Technologically proficient.
