Job Objective: As the Billing Clerk you will perform assigned duties and projects, maintain workflow, and serve as support to the Accounts Receivable Supervisor and Finance Manager. The Billing Clerk helps ensure the Mission of The Salvation Army is effectively carried out. What You Will Do:
  • Assist the Accounts Receivable Supervisor and Finance Manager in the following:
    • Receipt and post payments from clients and other payor's
    • Maintains records of payments received
    • Data entry, entering charges into insurance payors insurance websites
  • Gathers financial and insurance information for clients, reverify clients' insurance
  • Checking clients' unpaid claims on the insurance payors websites
  • Conducts bank deposits for Salvation Army income
  • Prepares spreadsheets and maintains financial information files then transfers receipts to Accounts Receivable Supervisor and Finance Manager
  • Assist in the preparation of various financial reports as assigned
  • Provide back-up coverage for Front/South desk as needed, answer and screen incoming phone calls transfer to the appropriate person or department
  • Operate office machines such as computer, copier, fax machine, and adding machine
  • Collection of fees, post payments and creating receipts collected by Accounts Receivable Supervisor and Finance Manager
  • Attends staff meetings, departmental meetings, seminar/conferences, and in-service meetings and training programs as scheduled
  • Maintains client confidentiality of all client information according to Federal, State, and The Salvation Army standards, policies, and procedures
  • Help to maintain certifications and contracts by meeting requirements
  • Entering/Tracking payer source from program to program and update insurance information
  • Other tasks as assigned by leadership
Minimum Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position. Education: High School Diploma or equivalent Background Checks: Position requires a background check to be completed and all background check results will be reviewed. Experience: General accounting knowledge with one-year previous bookkeeping experience preferred. Certifications: Must have a valid driver's license and maintain The Salvation Army Driver's qualification standard; must complete Safe From Harm training within the first 90 days of employment. Skills/Abilities:
  • Able to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership, field personnel, and clientele.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft products and ability to learn electronic reporting systems.
