POSITION SUMMARY

The Billing Director oversees daily activities of the internal billing team and coordinates billing activities with external billing company. Ensure that all functions of the Billing Department are completed in an accurate and timely manner. Works closely with President, Chief Administrative Officer, Directors, and external Billing Company resources to ensure a robust billing function for Women's Health of Central Virginia. Responsible for carrier contracts, patient financial accounts, fee schedules, monitoring and developing procedures, and reporting processes.

  • Oversee daily activities of internal billing department.
  • Maintain effective relationship with external billing department. Meet regularly to review key measures of success, issues, and priorities. Ensure that internal and external billing processes are effective and meeting key success indicators.
  • Maintain Carrier Contracts and Fee Schedules. Review amendments and policy updates and determine if action is needed. Conduct periodic audits to ensure that contract terms, fee schedules, and carrier payments are accurate. Take corrective action as needed.
  • Oversee collections efforts with external billing company and collections agency. Ensure that internal and external billing staff are adhering to WHS collections policy.
  • Provide oversight for Practice Management System. Incorporate new features into workflows as appropriate. Develop new processes, implement system settings, educate staff, and monitor for accuracy. Modify current settings as needed.
  • Monitor billing processes for accuracy and timely completion. Includes collections, electronic remits, claims submission, denial management, coding changes from AMA. Conduct internal audits as needed to ensure accuracy and compliance with coding standards. Coordinate activities with external and internal billing teams.
  • Process month end reports for accountants. Process internal reports to monitor key processes, track progress with key initiatives, research key issues or identify emerging trends.
  • Provide custom reports as needed to answer specific billing questions or to conduct audits.
  • Develop policies and procedures as needed. Ensure adherence with current policies and procedures. Implement any changes that may evolve over time.
  • Ensure that patient complaints regarding billing are addressed and resolution effectively communicated to relevant parties.
  • Lead specific projects as needed.
  • Coordinate training with vendors and billing staff as needed.

    SKILLS & ABILITIES

    Education: High School Diploma, or equivalent. Bachelor's degree in business field or Finance preferred.

    Experience: 5 years medical billing experience, required. 3 years medical billing supervisory experience required.

    Computer Skills: Ability to efficiently operate computers. Comfortable with Microsoft Office. Requires good understanding Excel formulas, pivot tables, filters.

    Certifications & Licenses: Certification in Billing and/or Coding preferred.

    Other Requirements: Ability to pass required background check. Requires high level of critical thinking and problem solving.

    Pay: $68,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
