Job Type: Full Time Summary: Our busy orthopaedic clinic is looking for an billing specialist. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills and be able to work in a fast paced environment under pressure. The clinic billing specialist is a non-exempt, full-time position responsible for processing, verifying, and managing all billable services and processes. Position Duties:
  • Promote the mission, vision, and values of Tri-City Orthopaedic Clinic
  • Review patient benefits and process quotes for patient co-pays
  • Review patient charges and submit to appropriate payor for billing
  • Manage aged receivables (A/R) and refunds (credit)
  • Manage and maintain reports required for position (ie. A/R, refunds, missing visits, etc.)
  • Answer billing department phone calls timely and in a professional manner
  • Take patient payments over the phone and process them appropriately
  • Follow through to completion on all patient and insurance questions and problems
  • Report any insurance changes and requirements to manager
  • Help to ensure that up to date carrier information is maintained in various systems
  • Attend billing department and staff meetings as assigned
  • Communicate needs and updates to office staff to ensure appropriate reimbursement
  • Maintain confidentiality standards for both medical and financial information
  • Other duties as assigned

Monday - Friday; 8am-5pm RequirementsEducation, Licenses and Qualifications:Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-year medical billing experience
  • Knowledge of correct collection practices
  • Knowledge of Medicare / Medicaid and managed care contracts
  • Skilled in organization and accuracy
  • Skilled in verbal and written communication
  • Ability to articulate answers to patient questions clearly
Preferred:
  • CPB or equivalent
  • CBCS or equivalent
