General Purpose of Job/Summary: We are seeking an experienced and organized Billing Specialist. The Billing Specialist helps maintain our practices' financial health by overseeing the billing process. They will be responsible for managing patient billing and collection procedures: auditing reports, sending claims, and reviewing superbills. The billing specialist will also resolve billing issues by communicating with patients and insurance companies. Candidates who are passionate about healthcare administration with excellent organizational and communication skills are encouraged to apply. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensures billing and collection procedures for all patients are completed with accuracy.
- Form payment plans for patients whenever appropriate and agreeable.
- Responsible for preparing and submitting all surgery and clinic claims.
- Audit the Accounts Aging Analysis Report to determine patient accounts requiring immediate attention.
- Resolve billing inquiries and complaints received from patients, insurance companies, and staff in a compassionate and timely manner.
- Collaborate weekly with Supervisor of the Accounts Receivable Department to discuss problem accounts and plans for the upcoming week.
- Review and verify the accuracy of superbills, ensuring all necessary charges are included and following up on any missing or incomplete tickets.
- Process daily charge entries and collaborate with clinical staff.
- Manage and track billing appeals as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Understands the life cycle of a claim and medical billing procedures.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) and electronic scheduling system.
- Preferred: Associate's degree or higher; billing and collections experience in a medical office; working knowledge of healthcare insurance; certifications related to medical billing or coding.
Required Skills & Abilities:

- Demonstrated proficiency with technology; familiarity with relevant software applications, electronic medical records (EMR) systems, and electronic scheduling systems.
- Will observe all company confidentiality requirements and HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and maintain HIPAA compliance.

- Outstanding written and oral communication skills; handles company business with the utmost professionalism, discretion, and tact.
- Adept at managing multiple urgent tasks simultaneously in high-pressure situations without compromising accuracy.
