We are seeking an experienced Biomedical Equipment Technician III (BMET III) to join our team. This role is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of a wide range of patient care equipment, including high-risk and life-support devices. The BMET III works independently on complex repairs and calibrations, manages vendor relationships, and serves as a key decision-maker in the absence of the Account Manager. The ideal candidate has advanced technical knowledge, excellent problem-solving skills, and a strong commitment to patient safety. This role also provides mentorship and guidance to junior technicians and plays an integral part in maintaining high-quality standards within the healthcare facility. Responsibilities/ Job Duties:
- Perform maintenance, repair, and calibration on patient care equipment, including life-support and diagnostic devices.
- Independently troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues to minimize equipment downtime.
- Manage vendor service repairs and ensure timely follow-up with customers.
- Accurately document all service activities in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Provide technical guidance and training to biomedical equipment technicians and apprentices.
- Assist in managing the facility's scheduled maintenance program to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Act as a supervisor in the absence of the Account Manager, providing leadership and support to the team.
- Research and order parts as needed to complete repairs and maintenance.
- Deliver technical in-service training to facility staff on the proper use of medical equipment.
- Participate in the facility's on-call rotation to address urgent service needs.
- Ensure compliance with all facility and regulatory safety policies, including OSHA and Joint Commission standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical Certificate or DOD training in biomedical equipment maintenance required.
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Certification as a Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) or similar preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in biomedical equipment maintenance, including high-risk patient care devices.
- Strong knowledge of electromechanical devices, patient monitoring systems, and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and regulatory guidelines.
- Proven leadership and mentoring abilities to guide junior technicians.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and make sound decisions under pressure.
