Job Description:Overview:The primary responsibility of the Adjunct Faculty member is teaching. We are seeking adjunct instructors for the following course at Keck Graduate Institute (KGI):ENG 6152 Bioprocessing for Emerging Therapeutics (Spring, 1.5 credits)
Course DescriptionThis course will introduce next-generation biologics and advanced bioprocessing concepts to the second year Master of Engineering (MEng) in Biopharmaceutical Processing students at KGI. Next-generation biologics include novel proteins, vaccines, viral vectors, cell and gene therapeutics, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. Bioprocess engineers must identify and find solutions for challenges relating to manufacture and commercialization of the next-generation biologics. Advanced bioprocessing concepts, such as novel bioreactor designs, purification methods, analytical techniques, and data analytics and modeling approaches will be introduced through case studies. Furthermore, looking into the bright prospect of Biopharma 4.0 that aims for digital transformation towards smart biomanufacturing, application of AI/ML in bioprocessing will be investigated.The successful candidate must share in the mission of KGI and the Riggs School of Applied Life Sciences Programs. The Adjunct Faculty member reports directly to the Dean and works collaboratively with the Program Directors and other faculty.Located in beautiful Claremont, California, Keck Graduate Institute is a member of the prestigious Claremont Colleges, a consortium of five undergraduate liberal arts colleges, two graduate institutions, and The Claremont Colleges Services, which provide shared institutional support services.
Education and Experience:Minimum of a Master's degree in a related field. A doctoral degree is strongly preferred. A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience. Prior experience in teaching for active learning preferred. Experience with the Canvas learning management system is a plus.
