Title: Blaster/Painter Lead ALocation: Pascagoula, MSFunctions:
  • Role Overview: The Blaster/Painter Lead A directs the activities of a group or team of hourly craft employees engaged in production, repair, or material handling processes related to blasting and painting. The lead is responsible for ensuring that the team's work meets quality and safety standards, adheres to production schedules, and is performed most cost-effectively. This role reports to a foreman, superintendent, or another plant management position.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Daily Assignments: Assign daily tasks to hourly workers based on production needs.
  • Timekeeping: Completes and manages the time cards of hourly workers on a daily basis.
  • Job Monitoring: Oversees job activities, provides guidance, answers questions, and resolves issues that arise during work.
  • Resource Planning: Assists plant management in determining necessary work procedures, equipment, supplies, and manpower requirements to complete tasks according to production drawings.
  • Employee Management: Selects, supervises, instructs, and schedules employees to ensure optimal productivity.
  • Quality and Safety Oversight: Monitors work processes and products to ensure compliance with quality, safety, and cost containment standards.
  • Equipment Management: Ensures that company equipment is properly handled, maintained, and secured after use.
Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Plant Operations Knowledge: Strong understanding of plant operations, particularly in blasting and painting techniques and equipment.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work objectives accurately.
  • Work Planning: Effective in planning work procedures, and determining equipment, material, and manpower needs.
  • Leadership and Team Building: Ability to build and lead a productive work team and collaborate as part of a management team.
  • Communication Skills: Strong ability to communicate effectively with team members and management.
Desirable Experience & Training:
  • Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED, and at least 7 years of extensive experience in the craft being supervised, or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
