Job Description
Peterson Trucks is hiring a Non-Journey Body Shop Technician at our Portland, OR location.
SUMMARY
The Technician - Non-Journey Body Shop will perform repairs on bodies and body parts of trucks, busses and other related vehicles according to repair manuals and industry standards, using hand tools and power tools.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

* Perform work as outlined on repair order with speed, quality and thoroughness.
* Advise Body Shop Supervisor or Manager if additional work is needed that is not on the estimate/repair order or if work outlined is not needed.
* Perform body and fender repairs on aluminum and steel cabs and perform fiberglass repairs on all makes and models.
* Perform welding, steel and aluminum, stick, wire feed, etc.
* Perform body and panel alignment.
* Prepare vehicle for painting process.
* Paint vehicles per paint manufacturer's specifications, including priming and sealing.
* Secure needed parts from Parts Department in order to make necessary repairs by furnishing the proper vehicle information and repair order number. Use adequate, but not excessive, amounts of materials and supplies.
* Operate all equipment in body shop.
* Attend required technical schools and training sessions in order to increase and update professional knowledge when available.
* Maintain a safe working environment and observe all safety procedures, laws, policies and rules. Clean up work area and tools between job assignments.
* Communicate with internal and external customers in a manner that promotes a positive relationship.
* Operate company or personal vehicle as needed.
* Maintains punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
* Report any missing or damaged tools to the Body Shop Manager.
* Ensure that the customer's vehicle is kept as clean as possible.
JOB SCOPE
This position serves in the capacity of the Technician - Non-Journey Body Shop. General discretion and judgment are exercised routinely in the execution of job duties. If errors in judgment or professional execution of responsibilities are made, the consequences to the Department can be significant.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, safely and in alignment with Peterson's core values. * Must maintain a tool inventory sufficient to perform assigned tasks.
* Must maintain an acceptable driving record.
* Must be able to wear a paint & dust respirator.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED required, Vocational/Technical School preferred; and a minimum of three years of directly related experience working in all repairs to steel and aluminum cabs; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Experience in painting process, fiber glass repair, aluminum and steel welding required. Experience in electrical and chassis preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and DOT medical card.
