POSITION SUMMARY:

As a BOH Shift Leader, you will be responsible for supporting all BOH roles as well as assisting the General Manager with BOH operations (training, delegation, conflict resolution, responsibilities) while complying with all applicable sanitation, health, safety, and personal hygiene standards and following established food production programs and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support all BOH roles; be a knowledgeable expert of each and perform when needed (Dishwasher, Prep Cook, Cook).
  • Assist with the training of new and existing BOH employees.
  • Manage all BOH employees including delegating responsibilities on shift and ensure all employees are following all proper procedures and protocols pertaining to their roles.
  • Ensure BOH facility remains clean at all times.
  • Comply with established sanitation standards, safety, personal hygiene, and health standards. Utilize proper food preparation and handling techniques.
  • Report necessary equipment repair and maintenance to General Manager, assist in coordinating the repair.
  • Plan food production to coordinate with meal serving hours so that excellence, quality, temperature, and appearance of food are preserved.
  • Maintain daily production records and assist with inventory control.
  • Maintain a clean and neat appearance; wear uniform provided by OTTO.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

  • Ability to read and comprehend labels and directions.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision required.
  • Ability to remain calm while working under pressure in a busy environment.
  • Ability to work within the timeframe of standard policies and procedures.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a busy, fast-growth environment.
  • Ability to work well on a team.
  • Ability to take direction when needed.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail.
  • High School Diploma preferred, not required.
  • Previous cooking experience preferred, not required.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred, not required.
  • Knife Skills preferred; MUST meet minimum age requirements (at least 18 years) if the location utilizes automatic slicers.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the functions.

  • Work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature generally is moderate and controlled by restaurant environmental systems; however, must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10°F) and kitchens (+110°F), possibly for one hour or more.
  • Position requires standing and walking. Length of time of these tasks is most of the shift.
  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously.
  • Requires grasping, standing, walking, repetitive motions, bending, lifting, listening and hearing ability, and visual acuity.
  • Talking and hearing to occur continuously in the process of communicating with coworkers and supervisors.
  • Requires lifting to 5 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
  • Requires lifting items weighing up to 40-50 lbs occasionally.
  • Requires bending, stooping, squatting, and stretching to fulfill cleaning tasks occasionally.
  • Requires working in slippery/wet areas; must wear non-slip close-toed shoes.
