Job Description :

We are looking to add an additional individual to our bookkeeping department at our main location. The successful candidate will begin as an assistant to our existing bookkeeper while learning the nuances of insurance agency bookkeeping. Previous experience in bookkeeping or accounting is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate that can show they have good math skills, critical thinking and organization skills, or a banking background. This position is for our Scott Agency, Inc. Insurance Agency office in Montgomery City, Missouri.

Position:

This bookkeeping position will be responsible for assisting and learning from our existing bookkeeper how to process agency bill/direct bill transactions, agency commissions statements, month-end/year-end reconciliations, daily banking transactions and payroll. This is a full-time position.

Primary Expectations:

  • Prior Experience in bookkeeping or accounting, insurance, banking or other financial services industries preferred
  • Understanding of general accounting principles preferred
  • Must have the ability to work cooperatively as part of a team
  • Strong math and logic/critical thinking skills required
  • Must have the ability to multi-task and deal effectively with interruptions

Knowledge and Skills:

  • High School graduate or equivalent required
  • Customer service experience and experience answering phones in an office setting preferred
  • Must show attention to detail and organization
  • Experience with invoicing/billing
  • Must be able to communicate effectively inside/outside the organization
  • Experience working with a bookkeeping program (QuickBooks, NetSuite, etc.)
  • Must have the ability to work independently and complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Familiarity with computer and word processing programs and email required
  • Experience with Excel or other spreadsheet software, required
