This position coordinates and implements natural resources actions to manage botanical resources at PTA , including 19 plant species listed as threatened or endangered under the federal Endangered Species Act. PTA is a 133,000-acre Army training facility located on Hawaii Island at 2,000-8000 feet elevation in the saddle region between Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa volcanoes. Position is contingent upon funding for continued CSU support for natural resource management on PTA .The Botanical Monitoring Specialist assists with developing and implementing plans and protocols for monitoring and managing botanical resources on PTA with an emphasis on rare plants and associated threat management. The Specialist assists with developing project goals and objectives and assists with developing priorities and work schedules to ensure performance goals are met across the Botanical Program. The Specialist manages botanical program data using GIS and other data management and statistical software to manage, summarize and analyze data. The specialist assists with interpretation of data analyses for report writing. The Specialist will perform field tasks up to 50% of the time.Work location is dependent on the needs of the partner/project/role. In some instances, positions may require staff to be fully in-person.
