Peer Mentors within the Braiding Opportunities in Training, Advocacy, and Networking for Young Scientists (BOTANY Scientists) program are essential team members assisting current and future Botany and Plant Ecology students as they acclimate to WSU and a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) major. BOTANY Buds peer mentors will be responsible for the following essential job functions:
* supporting the success of assigned mentees by providing intentional mentoring on a one on one and small group setting in the following topic areas:
* Navigation of campus resource
* Time management
* STEM identities/ Connection to campus and community
* Preparation for graduation and beyond
* Contribute to a friendly and supportive Botany and Plant Ecology community
* Attend BOTANY Buds Mentor Program Social Events
Required Qualifications
* Must be a declared Botany and Plant Ecology major and have completed 2 semesters of Botany courses.
* Attend paid peer mentor training
* Minimum GPA 2.5
* Full-time (12 credits or more)
* Undergraduate student
* Must be dependable and be able to attend all assigned mentoring meetings and/or events
* Excellent communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
* Work Study eligible preferred. If you are unsure if you are eligible for the Federal Work Study Program, contact the Financial Aid office at 801-###-####.
* Experience mentoring and/or motivating others
