Job Summary:

The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is looking for a detailed oriented Budget Analyst. This position is responsible for monitoring, balancing, tracking, and analyzing the budgets and funds for the Arizona State Prison Complex - Safford. Apply now!

Job Duties:

* Performs numerous budgeting and funding activities

* Researches and prepares a variety of financial reports

* Monitors and projects costs

* Reviews and approves purchase requests, vendor payments, travel settlements, and other financial transactions

* Ensures transactions are entered into Fund Control systems

* Collects and reconciles all credit card statements monthly with backup documentation

* Acting Business Administrator when absent

* Responds, performs, and makes decisions on situations as necessary

* Reviews reports and data to support necessary decisions for agency goals and mission

* Attends meetings, training, functions and seminars as necessary

* Drives on State business

* Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

* Principles, practices, and management of budgeting, accounting, fiscal, business administration, and budgetary control

* Report writing techniques

* Statistical analysis and theory

* General office practices and procedures

* General Accounting Office (GAO), General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), state, federal, and ADCRR policies, procedures, and procurement regulations

* Proper maintenance of financial records and preparation of budget reports and other mandated reports

Skill in:

* Verbal and written communication

* Administrative, organization, analytical, research, problem-solving, forecasting, and decision-making fundamentals

* Managing multiple areas of expertise with the ability to coordinate the functions, motivate and manage staff to achieve the desired results and accomplish goals

* Developing and maintaining positive interpersonal relationships in the working environment

* Computer equipment and automated accounting systems to maintain the accuracy and integrity of online accounting systems

Ability to:

* Identify and draw from resources available to properly answer questions and assist staff and the public in problem resolution

* Accurately work with numbers and complete mandated reports in the required formats in a timely manner

* Read, understand, and follow written policies, procedures, and regulations governing the budget and accounting functions related to their assigned responsibilities

* Communicate changes, problems, or methodologies effectively to others with less experience and/or knowledge of the area of responsibilities

* Prioritize and organize work assignments

* Adapt to changing priorities and tasks

* Work in a prison environment

Selective Preference(s):

* Two (2) years of experience in accounting or budgeting positions

* Experience in-person computer functions and operation, spreadsheet software, or automated computer system use

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation and a drug test.

In an effort to maintain a safe environment, all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.

If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver's license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver's license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).

All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).

Retirement:

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).

Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment.
