Budget Title: Staff Associate (SL-4)
Salary: Commensurate with experience
The Budget Manager reports directly to the Budget Director, within the central Budget Office and serves as a key resource for stakeholders in various areas of budget development, control, execution, analysis, monitoring, and reporting. The Budget Manager will be expected to work well across a diverse campus population, to interact collegially, and to maintain the highest standard of integrity and ethical behavior. The selected candidate will be able to manage multiple projects and priorities, will be action-oriented, with excellent attention to detail and analytical skills. The Budget Office administers the University's State appropriated budgets totaling more than $400M annually.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
+ Assist Budget Director with execution and development of all campus budget matters
+ Assist departments with budget projections and spending plan execution, ensuring compliance with SUNY and campus policies
+ Provide supportive leadership and coordination services for all university wide program operations
+ Support, coordinate, and manage financial component of various academic affairs initiatives such as faculty startup, promoted faculty compensation, federal work study and contractual salary increase changes
+ Work with staff to ensure accurate projections of upcoming contractual salary increase payments; analyze and determine funding needed
+ Work with education abroad staff to ensure program budgets are assembled within SUNY and campus policy and approve education abroad budgets annually and by academic term
+ Supervise Budget Analysts, ensure proper training, professional development and workload distribution
Job Requirements:
+ Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field
+ 3-5 years of related experience
+ Ability to demonstrate advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
+ Ability to develop, evaluate, and present datasets to management
+ Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
+ Detail-oriented with strong analytical, organizational, and technological skills
+ Demonstrated ability to work independently, use initiative, follow through, and complete tasks in a timely manner
Preferred:
+ Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field
+ Supervisory experience
+ Experience in a SUNY or Higher Education financial environment
+ Experience working in a large complex organization
+ Experience with Business Intelligence reporting tools
