Building AideAn ESS building aide assists the classroom teacher to provide extra support to students with special needs, promoting maximum academic and personal growth. The building aide's job responsibilities range from supplementing regular classroom curriculum to helping individual students. Responsibilities
  • Supervise students in the cafeteria during lunch.
  • Supervise students on the playground during recess.
  • Transition students from the lunchroom to indoor/outdoor Recess
  • Monitor students in classrooms during indoor recess.
  • Teach students how to play at recess to be safe and have fun.
  • Praise students for positive behavior.
  • Teach children how to meet expectations for appropriate behavior.
  • Monitor student behavior to ensure student safety.
  • Clean tables in the cafeteria, if needed.
  • Attend various training courses which the district may offer.
  • Assists in clerical support in the office.
  • Assist with the duplication of any materials that the Principal/Assistant Principal and/or teacher requires.
  • Under the direction of the teacher, work with students in small groups or individually, facilitating learning activities.
  • Examples: Under the instruction and direction of the teacher, work with students to facilitate learning centers, math explorations, a science experiment, small group activity.
  • Support with dismissal as instructed in an assigned area.
  • Observe confidentiality of student-related issues.
  • Qualifications
    • High School Diploma or GED
    • PA Department of Education Form 6004: Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification - Act 24
    • PA State Police Criminal History Clearance - Act 34
    • Federal Criminal History Clearance - Act 114
    • Child Abuse Clearance - Act 151
    • Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Release - Act 168
    • Tuberculosis Test/Physical
