Building Guest Teacher - Lansing School District : Job Details

The Lansing School District serves over 10,000 PreK-12 students across 25 school buildings in the increasingly diverse urban community of Lansing, MI. All of Lansing School District's team members are dedicated to our mission to provide an excellent education to all students in a safe and nurturing environment.In pursuit of this mission, we are hiring a Building Guest Teachers who will ensure our K-8 students receive world-class instruction in all content areas. Guest Teachers fill much needed gaps on our instructional teams when there are long term absences from certified teachers. Similar to all other teachers, they work to build safe, nurturing classrooms where students can be themselves and work collaboratively towards common learning goals. Guest Teachers will work alongside other teachers, parents, and students to ensure they are providing the best education experience to all students. Guest Teachers will also be given the opportunity to pursue additional education and certification to become a full-time teacher long term. This role in particular will be assigned to Attwood, and you will fill openings in the building as needed. Minimum Qualifications - One of the following:

• 60 college credits
• Associate's degree

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous successful elementary teaching experience in urban setting
• Interest in pursuing teaching as a long term career

Job Responsibilities

• Demonstrate passion for and expertise of elementary content areas
• Provide world-class instruction in literacy, math, and other content areas to elementary students
• Use data to guide and effectively differentiate instruction
• Learn and grow by incorporating feedback from school leaders, colleagues, students, and professional development sessions
• Build relationships with students and parents to ensure a safe, welcoming, and engaging learning environment
• Be open to changes in assignment as needed
• Other duties as assigned to best support the Lansing School District mission

$23.84 - $30.39 an hourGuest Teachers are paid on the LSEA Hourly Salary Schedule. They are paid from Column CC, and unless otherwise mentioned, will be paid for 35 hours a week during the school year. Most all candidates will start at the bottom of the range provided, unless there are extenuating circumstances.
