Summary of Essential Responsibilities Performs a variety of maintenance and repair activities of moderate difficulty in the upkeep of County facilities, infrastructure, and grounds. - Performs various maintenance activities to maintain or improve working spaces and building safety
- Receives incoming deliveries and distributes items to the appropriate department
- Removes or relocates items as needed
- Picks up and delivers parts and supplies
- Assists in the repair of plumbing problems and construction requirements
- Performs general clean-up work
- Assists with painting in office renovations
- Maintains an awareness of proper safety procedures and guidelines
- Regular and predictable attendance
- Performs other job related duties as directed
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of tools, equipment, methods and materials used in various building renovation, maintenance and repair activities
- Knowledge of basic carpentry, plumbing and electrical trades
- Skilled in the safe use of common hand tools and light power equipment used in repair and maintenance work
- Ability to safely operate light trucks and/or maintenance equipment
- Ability to work safely with and around mechanized equipment
- Ability to perform manual labor for protracted periods of time
- Ability to understand and comply with oral and written instructions
- Ability to work effectively with others or independently
Equipment Used: Hand/power tools and equipment necessary for maintenance and repair of equipment, buildings and/or facilities, including but not limited to plumbing, air conditioning, and electrical systems; general custodial equipment and supplies; general office equipment, as needed. Minimum Qualifications:
- High School graduate or GED
- Two years of experience in skilled facility maintenance work
- Texas Motor Vehicle Operator's License and able to drive a county vehicle
Work Schedule / Hours X Normal / Regular schedule is: Monday - Friday; On call weekends Shift work required - Identify different/specific shift: Overtime work is necessary: Holiday work assignment: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment drug testing, physical fitness testing and criminal background check.
