DescriptionESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This list of tasks is illustrative ONLY and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this class.   • Assist in performing preventative maintenance, minor repair, and installation in connection with:
  • Electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and sprinkler systems
  • Exterior and interior of buildings, such as patching walls and doors, painting walls and trim, replacing fixtures and partitions, replacing damaged ceiling and floor tiles, sealing and painting decks, etc.
  • Facility and park grounds, such as fencing, playground equipment, drinking fountains, etc.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, lawn and grounds equipment, and vehicles
  • Set up, move, arrange, and take down furniture and equipment
  • Assist in performing minor mechanical work and adjustments on all lawn and grounds equipment
  • Perform custodial duties such as vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, scrubbing, mopping, cleaning toilets and sinks, cleaning carpets, emptying waste, and recycling receptacles, washing windows, replenishing supplies, locking and unlocking doors, etc.
  • Mow and fertilize lawns, plant, and maintain flower beds, pull weeds, and trim shrubs and trees
  • Maintain outside walkways and parking lots, pick up trash/garbage, and assist in keeping outside premises in an orderly condition
  • Assist in cleaning the pool and maintaining pool equipment and operating systems
  • Assist in ordering and stocking needed materials and supplies
  • Report damage and/or repair needs to facilities
  • Maintain time and production records

  • Ability to communicate effectively and understand verbal and written instructions

  • Good working knowledge of construction, demolition, and repairs
  • Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects
  • Ability to manage and prioritize projects under tight time constraints
  • Detail oriented and conscientious; ability to meet schedules and timelines
  • Work cooperatively with co-workers, supervisors, and the general public
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic math.REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
