POSITION SUMMARY: Serve as supervisor to childcare areas. Professionally train, support and supervise staff and programs during assigned shifts. To provide quality supervision of staff and children while adult members and participants are using the YMCA facilities and programs. Handle facility, and program emergencies, and security problems as they arise. Handle complains/concerns as they arise. Assist in coordinating family events. Schedule staff and complete staff evaluations. Maintain high standard of safety, member service, cleanliness, and adherence to program guidelines as developed. Implement curriculum; interact and nurture children in your care, supervising their activities to ensure a safe environment. Provides childcare services including personal care, hygiene, learning and development activities and specialized programs; maintains cleanliness of childcare property. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provides direction and oversight of the day-to-day operations of the child watch areas. Ensure that staff are staffed appropriately for the number of children per room. Interact with children: provide constant care in an efficient safe, secure and healthy manner. Develops and implements hands-on activities which are age appropriate. Assist with special activities as scheduled; including Parent's Night Out, and Birthday Parties. Assist with housekeeping / maintenance of all areas used to ensure cleanliness of activity areas. Responsible for follow-up on guidelines and policies of Play and Learn to all staff. Responsible for following up on an incident/accident reports and reporting any major concerns to immediate supervisor. Responsible for updating staff and parent' bulletin boards both inside Play and Learn and thorough out the Y. Also, to include the staff communication binder. Responsible for updating fliers and posters promoting all Family Events offered by Play and Learn and the Y. Assists with running craft time. Responsible for scheduling staff, calling staff when they do not show up for shift and willing to cover miscellaneous shifts when needed and to work extra events such as Parent's Night Out, and birthday parties. Responsible for maintaining supplies. Responsible for assisting in the coordination of staff meetings and/or training on a regular basis. Responsible for all family events (Healthy Kids Day) and a Campaign event. Advise Senior Program Director and Play and Learn Night Lead Staff of all child/parent/staff problems immediately. Reports all accident / incidents in a timely manner. Builds and maintains effective and positive relationships with parents and staff. Attend trainings as directed by Supervisor. Dress according to staff policy. Participate as an active member of the staff team providing feedback, input, and ideas in order to continue to provide a quality program. Responsible for covering shifts Must be available to work flexible hours. Willing to work weekends and evenings when needed or required. QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum 18 years of age. Knowledge of custodial care. Ability to represent the YMCA in a mature and professional manner. Ability to work efficiently independently and as part of a team. Display a personal commitment to consistent quality customer service & facility care. Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents. Ability to report and record maintenance requests. Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment. Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment. Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use. Ability to work independently, plan, and organize. Must be certified in Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED within the first 30 days of hire.
