Job Title: Bursar

Department/Division: Business and Finance

SUMMARY

Performs any combination of duties involving routine calculating, posting, monitoring, reconciling, processing and verifying to obtain or record financial data for use in maintaining the University's accounting records.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

* Oversee billing and collection of tuition, fees, and other charges. This includes issuing tuition statements, processing payments, and managing overdue accounts.

* Coordinate with the financial aid office to ensure that scholarships, grants, and loans are disbursed to students' accounts accurately and in a timely manner.

* Managing the cash flow of the institution, including the receipt and deposit of funds, handling petty cash, and ensuring proper cash handling procedures.

* Prepare and provide financial reports related to student accounts and institutional funds, ensuring that records are accurate and up to date.

* Assist in the development of the university's budget by providing data and analysis related to revenue from tuition and fees.

* Ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations regarding student financial matters, including tax reporting (e.g., issuing 1098-T forms).

* Provide customer service to students, parents, and staff regarding billing, payment plans, refunds, and other financial matters.

* Develop and enforce policies related to tuition, fees, and other student financial obligations.

* Assists in bad debt write off and collection of written off accounts through collection agencies and the State of Missouri.

* Distribute, review, calculate, and process student refund payments.

* Researches processing problems, contacts departments and students to resolve problems and expedite payment, and responds to inquiries by telephone or in writing; refers complex problems for solution.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance At least three years of progressive work in accepted accounting/bookkeeping principles or related office setting. OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES

* Demonstrated leadership competencies required; three years supervisory experience preferred.

* Excellent quantitative analytic skills, writing and communication skills, demonstrated organization and leadership skills.

* Ability to perform with a high degree of diplomacy, confidentiality, and professionalism required PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS Some physical work may be required from time to time.
