Description: We are working with a NYC-based healthcare insurance company that is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Business Analyst to join their team as a contractor. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing business processes, identifying areas for improvement, and supporting the implementation of business solutions that enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the organization. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with cross-functional teams, have strong analytical skills, and be capable of translating complex business needs into actionable recommendations. Location: This is a hybrid role based in the downtown NYC area. Key Responsibilities:
  • Business Requirements Gathering: Work closely with stakeholders to understand business objectives, gather and document detailed business requirements, and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze large datasets to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and areas of inefficiency. Use data-driven insights to drive decision-making and support business strategies.
  • Process Improvement: Collaborate with various departments to assess current processes, identify gaps or inefficiencies, and recommend and implement process improvements.
  • Solution Design: Assist in the design and development of business solutions by translating business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Project Support: Support the project management team in defining project scope, milestones, and deliverables. Help track project progress and ensure that initiatives are completed on time and within scope.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Create and maintain clear documentation of business processes, requirements, and system configurations. Provide regular updates and progress reports to stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Facilitate communication between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring that expectations are aligned, and any issues are promptly addressed.
  • Testing & Quality Assurance: Assist in the development of test plans and test cases, ensuring that business solutions meet the defined requirements and quality standards.
  • Continuous Improvement: Continuously monitor the performance of implemented solutions and suggest improvements based on feedback and ongoing analysis.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Health Informatics, or related field.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Business Analyst, in the healthcare or insurance industry.
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and draw actionable insights.
    • Experience with process mapping and process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
    • Knowledge of healthcare industry processes, regulations, and data standards (e.g., HIPAA, HEDIS).
    • Proficiency with data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Power BI, Tableau).
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to document processes clearly and accurately.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with healthcare claims, underwriting, or member enrollment processes.
  • Familiarity with business intelligence and reporting tools.
