Overview The Business Architect provides support for a large multi-year technology transformation initiative. Business architects work directly with application teams and platform architects to ensure technology project's align to the Bank's guiding principles. Responsibilities Maintenance of Reference Architectures and Mapping to Business Capabilities - Maintain and update business and technical reference architectures based on decisions made. Collaborate with the Enterprise Architecture function to keep reference architectures current and reflective of both the present state and future vision. Work with cross-functional teams to map business applications to our business capability model. Application Rationalization – Review the bank's application inventory to identify systems with similar features and functionality. Determine and recommend whether to repost, re-platform, refactor, reimagine, or retire the application.Review Alignment of documentation - Engage with project teams from initiation through execution to understand target architectures, solution design, business and technical capabilities, and operating models. Review project documentation to assess alignment with the defined technology future-state architecture and Architecture Design Principles. Identify discrepancies between project plans and the desired future-state architecture. Work with relevant project stakeholders to address discrepancies and align project plans accordingly. Review non-functional requirements for completeness and alignment to bank standards for application updates. Required:
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in business architecture, strategy, or a related field, with a strong background in banking or financial services.
  • Exceptional communication (verbal and written) and collaboration skills, with the ability to build consensus.
  • Proven experience in working with cross-functional teams, business transformation, and process optimization.
  • Experienced in supporting strategic planning with an ability to link the strategy to the business and technology.
  • Experience conducting feasibility & situation analysis to support decisions.
Preferred:
  • Certification in Business Architecture or Enterprise Architecture (e.g. BIAN, BIZBOK, TOGAF).
  • Experience with business process modeling tools (e.g. BPMN).
  • Knowledge of banking operations, financial products, and regulatory environments.
  • Understanding of the economics underpinning the bank.
  • Experience with digital transformation initiatives and technologies (e.g. AI, automation, cloud).
  • Ability to manage complex projects and competing priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment across diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable qualitative and quantitative business insights.
  • A track record of building trust through performance, relationship-building, and stakeholder management.
  • Experience with financial services technology (e.g. core banking systems, CRM, ERP).
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and project management tools, including JIRA.
