This position can be located in Raleigh or Manns Harbor but will also have the opportunity to work remotely or work part-time from a designated satellite office in another area of the state. The successful applicant will be required to travel occasionally to meet with the Division.
This position serves as the Ferry Division's Deputy Director of Support Services, which oversees the business operations of the Ferry Division. This position's core duties focus on Ferry's administration of the annual operating budget, and holds delegated authority to ensure compliance in legal, financial, and technical capacities, as well as the implementation and adherence to state and federally mandated procedures for all state and federal funds. The position acts as a key internal resource in the understanding and communication of state and federal authoritative guidance and an intermediary between federal agencies, state agencies, and other regulatory bodies for all business operations completed by the Ferry Division. This position will be a key contributor to the management of the Division by providing a strong professional presence, expertise, business sense, strategic vision, and strong desire to help improve the overall internal control environment. The individual serves as a senior member of the Ferry Division leadership team and could represent the Division at local, state, and national meetings/forums/conferences, etc. with elected officials and system officials.
Duties include but are not limited to:
* Budgetary funds oversight
* Oversight of the Federal grant application processes
* Contract management and oversight
* Oversight of internal/external audits
* Process improvement, and operational innovations to streamline work and improve efficiency and effectiveness

* Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain working relationships with a variety of customers and stakeholders.
* Knowledge of governmental budget and business practices, systems, tools, and laws/policies.

Master's degree in business administration, public administration, or other discipline related to the area of assignment from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of progressive administrative experience including supervising, planning, and managing a business or governmental program;
or Bachelor's degree, in business administration, public administration, or other discipline related to the area of assignment from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of progressive administrative experience including supervising, planning, and managing a business or governmental program; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
