Summary/objective

As the Chief of Staff, Business Operations for our CPA (Certified Public Accountant) firm, you will be a key member of the leadership team. This strategic role will be key in assisting leadership in optimizing the company's operations while acting as a liaison between the company and its key business partners. The Chief of Staff will also support senior management in decision-making, be hands-on in data extraction and analysis, and work closely with our Corporate Development team on Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) to drive business growth, integration, and operational excellence.

Essential functions

Business Partner Liaison:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the company and its key business partners.
  • Foster strong relationships with external stakeholders, ensuring clear and effective communication between both parties.
  • Coordinate and facilitate discussions between internal teams and business partners to align on objectives, timelines, and deliverables.

Operational Support:

  • Work with the leadership team to identify and implement opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.
  • Support the management team by providing data-driven insights, reports, and recommendations for decision-making.
  • Work cross-functionally with other departments (e.g., operations, finance, marketing, service lines, IT) to ensure smooth operations and alignment with business goals.

Data Extraction and Analysis:

  • Actively extract, clean, and analyze data from various internal systems to identify trends, patterns, and areas of opportunity.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for management, highlighting key findings and actionable insights.
  • Utilize data to drive operational improvements and support strategic initiatives across the business.

Corporate Development and M&A Support:

  • Assist in the integration of newly acquired businesses, ensuring smooth operational transitions and alignment with the company's goals.
  • Provide operational due diligence support, including milestone and timeline support.

Strategy and Project Management:

  • Monitor strategic projects, ensuring they are executed on time, within scope, and aligned with company objectives.
  • Work closely with leadership to define strategic initiatives and monitor their successful implementation.
  • Drive the development of operational KPIs and performance metrics to measure success and continuously improve operations.

Required education and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business, operations, finance, or related field
  • Proven experience in business operations, or similar role, with a strong track record of working with business operations and cross-functional teams.
  • Hands-on experience in data analysis, data extraction, and business intelligence tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Power BI, Tableau).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with both internal teams and external business partners.
  • Solid understanding of corporate strategy, mergers & acquisitions, and integration processes.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills with a focus on driving results and operational efficiency.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think strategically and act tactically.

Preferred education and experience

  • Master's degree in business, operations, finance, or a related field
  • Experience in high-growth or M&A-focused organizations.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific software tools and systems.
  • Experience within the CPA or professional services industry.
