Job Functions (Essential)This position is recognized as a strategic buyer and is responsible primarily for the negotiation, purchase and strategy of different commodities, but will also purchase other goods and service for the company in an efficient and economical manner following established policies and procedures.
Process purchasing award summaries and purchasing documents for suppliers directly related to production and aftersalesAssist in the development of International Commodity Team strategies that align with Global/Regional Purchasing and Logistics ObjectivesManage cross-functional projects on time and within budgetNegotiate pricing, terms and annual contracts with suppliers, with a focus on supplier tooling, fixturing, etc.Evaluate and select new suppliers based on common practices and based on negotiated agreements focused on price, quality, delivery and other required servicesAggressively resolve all pricing, invoicing and contract related issues with the suppliersDevelop sourcing lists and monitors supplier performanceForecast annual material, tooling, and repair budgetSupport the development of interns, co-ops, and new hiresSupport the implementation of a standardized process approach utilizing common forms, measurements, and structureCreate alternatives and options for purchasing issuesSupport cost savings initiativesMaintain open communication between internal departments, management, and suppliersMaintain good housekeeping practices Keep management abreast of work, pending issues and problemsPromote a compliance culture in area of responsibility, and live the letter and the spirit of the Rolls Royce Integrity Code.Perform special projects as required.Work Environment:Work EnvironmentWork Conditions:Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable an individual with disabilities to perform essential job functions. You can learn more here.Qualifications:Qualifications (Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)Required:Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Materials Management, or Business Finance, and 3 years of procurement, materials management, supplier cost analysis, or supply chain management experience; or 7 years of experience in procurement, materials management, supplier cost analysis, or supply chain managementStrong knowledge of casting and forging tooling and fixturingMinimum 2 years of experience handling confidential sensitive matters with discretionStrong working knowledge of purchasing practices and proceduresStrong negotiation skillsStrong financial/cost analysis and problem solving skills when issues are very complexStrong knowledge of production planning, supply chain and/or materials management processesStrong global knowledge of suppliers and international/domestic activitiesStrong organizational, planning, and follow-up skillsStrong oral, written and presentation communication skills, and the ability to understand the needs of the internal customerStrong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with othersStrong ability to interpret blueprints and engineering documentsStrong ability to learn commodity processes at supplier locationsSelf starter with the ability to work independently with little direction Ability to travel - domestic and international and work flexible hoursProficient with PC and MS Office Suite (ex.
