MRO Buyer II

We are seeking a professional, positive, and experienced Buyer II to join our talented Strategic Sourcing Team. Best candidate is decisive, accountable and thrives in a fast-moving position. Buyer will drive constant improvement, be curious, manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and thrive in this position. Responsibilities include MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Operations) purchasing, assist with Capital Expenditures, MRP planning of inventory, logical application of best practice for purchasing materials equipment and supplies from suppliers. Buyer is responsible for Supplier relationships, PO accuracy, on time delivery, and financial acumen.

  • Responsible and accountable for the timely procurement of materials and supplies (MRO) to meet requirements of the business.
  • Reviews all requisitions for accuracy and necessity and insures approval of authorized spending limits.
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery and lead-time with MRO vendors.
  • Issues purchase orders for outside secondary processing, including but not limited to coatings, heat treatment, finishing processes.
  • Manage daily Supplier relationships and day to day performance, attend and engage in supplier meetings.
  • Assists in resolving quality problems with vendor supplied materials, works with receiving department and supplier to resolve shipping discrepancies, and coordinates any material return for rework or credit.
  • Assist the factory and production scheduling team through effective communication of supply variation and risk mitigation.
  • Ability to analyze MRP and apply planning logic to execute financial purchasing decisions in support of planned production.
  • Collaborate with Strategic Sourcing Team to enforce cost opportunities, negotiate pricing, delivery, reduced lead-time and credit terms with vendors.
  • Provide performance feedback to the Strategic Sourcing Specialist on vendor quality and delivery performance, document data and provide input for purpose of scorecards and supplier performance measures.
  • Team with Strategic Sourcing Team to manage vendor relationship with for assigned commodities, Buyer acts as focal point for daily Supplier communication.
  • Supports Strategic Sourcing Team to negotiate and manager vendor replenishment agreements and minimize buy quantities and inventory investment.
  • Supports the development and on-going reporting of key performance metrics.
  • Initiates improvement projects to continuously reduce cost and raise performance within the function.
Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain or other Business related degree, and more than 6 years of experience as a Buyer in a manufacturing environment is required. Equivalency to the qualification standard will also be considered.
  • APICS or ISM certification a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to use MRP system for planning, purchasing, and inventory management. Strong understanding of MRP Logic.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Strong math and analytical skills.
  • Experienced in MRP planning skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, balancing conflicting priorities and resource constraints.
  • Excellent organization skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles for inventory valuation.
  • Solid understanding of flow principles, including kanbans, daily rates, point of use material, cycle time, replenishment systems, line balancing, backflush, etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret stocking agreements and contracts.
  • Ability to engage professionally in person and on MS Teams.
  • Systems skills: Inventory MRP systems (Syspro or equivalent). Excel spreadsheets, Microsoft teams, SharePoint, MS Suite.

Working Conditions:

  • Working Environment: Office position.
  • Physical Demands: Lifting up to 25lbs., sitting and talking on the phone or computer for long periods of time.
  • Travel Requirements: As needed, less than 5% of the time.
