As a Buyer II, you will have the unique opportunity to support the Grand Island site in developing strategic relationships with the supplier base. You will play a crucial role in improving supplier performance across factors including cost, quality and delivery, while also mitigating supply chain risk through robust relationship management processes. In this role, you will take ownership of projects and suppliers supporting the manufacturing team at Grand Island.Essential Functions:
  • Develop ideas and strategies to improve operational efficiency and business performance
  • Resolve high-level issues regarding price, quality, delivery, or payment
  • Research and evaluate areas of opportunity to mitigate risk and reduce costs
  • Improve overall procurement processes and work instructions
  • Collaborate with colleagues across different departments within the organization.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement projects
  • Provide support to the Material Planning team
  • Create and maintain management information reports
Relationship Management:
  • Collaborate and engage with individuals and organizations involved in new projects, supplies, and initiatives.
  • Address and communicate issues or concerns that may arise, ensuring appropriate resolution.
  • Support product change requests and review their impact on capacity plans
  • Build, maintain, and manage supplier relationships
  • Develop close working relationships with Material Planning, Category Management, and Supplier Quality teams

Education / Experience:
  • Associates Degree required
  • Bachelors Degree preferred
  • 3 years experience in supply chain
  • Proven strategic procurement experience, preferably in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Understanding of working in a regulated environment
  • Prior experience in Biochemicals preferred
  • Ability to contribute positively, minimize expenses, and drive operational enhancements
  • Project management experience preferred
  • Strong technical knowledge and understanding of supply chain management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer literate, including strong Excel skills
