Summary:
Under minimal supervision, work as a member of the purchasing team to insure a steady flow of material through the plant. Obtain goods and supplies from suppliers at the lowest cost consistent with consideration of quality, reliability of source and urgency of need.
Requirements
Research and develop new sources of supply to improve price, delivery, or quality or when current vendors are inadequate.
Negotiate contracts and develop strategic long-term supply agreements.
Develops alternate sources of supply by identifying and researching prospective suppliers.
Plan material requirements and coordinate material flow to support build schedules and kitting requirements.
Prepare, analyze and update daily reports.
Coordinate with engineering, production, sales, quality and customer support to ensure on time delivery of materials.
Evaluates bids for standard and non-standard items.
Selects suppliers for a variety of technical materials, supplies or services and negotiates price, delivery, quality and service.
Manage change requests through proactive communications with suppliers and prioritize workflow to meet critical requirements.
Train, coach and mentor junior level purchasing staff.
Qualifications
Strong Understanding of purchasing processes required.
Experienced negotiator with strong interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills - must be detail oriented.
A good team player and able to work independently.
Self-motivated and able to work under tight deadlines.
Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage multiple assignments simultaneously, in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of MRP systems required.
Bachelor's Degree in Business or related fields preferred.
7+ years of experience procuring electronic components in a manufacturing environment required.
Language Skills
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills are required for effective interface with all internal and external contacts.
Other Skills and Abilities
Knowledge and proficient in software tools such as Word and Excel.
Knowledge of ISO quality, environmental and safety requirements a plus.

Salary Description
$80,000 - $100,000 per year
