Job Title: Buyer

Location: Franklin Park, IL (Hybrid 2 days a week after 90 days)

This is a newly created position that is moving fast. The company is known for its custom-engineered products, serving a wide range of markets from food processing to petrochemical applications. Job Description: Reporting to the soon-to-be-appointed Purchasing Manager, the Buyer will play a critical role in researching and purchasing products and supplies for custom-engineered product fabrication and production. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain respect and recognition for your contributions as the company continues to enhance its manufacturing capabilities and capacity. You will experience autonomy, open dialogue with senior managers, and the chance to make an immediate impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and maintain inventory
  • Research, analyze, and forecast current and future buying trends, markets, styles, and products with attention to specific business needs
  • Develop and maintain relationships with wholesalers and suppliers
  • Assess the financial risks of purchases
  • Attend trade shows, product exhibitions, and conferences to stay updated on new products and trends

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain, or a related field
  • 1 to 3+ years of purchasing experience in manufacturing
  • Experience working for a custom made-to-order manufacturer is ideal
  • Proven experience in negotiating with suppliers
  • Strong ability to oversee and maintain inventory
  • Skilled in researching, analyzing, and forecasting buying trends and market needs
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with wholesalers and suppliers
  • Competence in assessing financial risks of purchases
