This role helps ensure that daily food service operations run smoothly and that students receive nutritious meals in a timely manner. Key Responsibilities:
Food Preparation and Serving: - Assist with the preparation and cooking of meals according to established recipes and food safety standards.
- Serve meals to students and staff, ensuring proper portion sizes and adherence to dietary guidelines.
- Prepare and set up food service lines, including arranging food, utensils, and condiments.
Kitchen and Dining Area Maintenance: - Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and dining areas, including washing dishes, cleaning surfaces, and disposing of waste.
- Follow sanitation and hygiene procedures to ensure a safe and sanitary food service environment.
- Assist with the storage of food and supplies, ensuring proper handling and labeling.
Customer Service: - Provide courteous and efficient service to students, staff, and visitors, addressing any questions or concerns related to the food service.
- Assist with managing student meal selections, including accommodating special dietary needs or requests.
Health and Safety Compliance: - Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including proper food handling, storage, and preparation practices.
- Follow safety protocols for operating kitchen equipment and handling potentially hazardous materials.
Support and Collaboration: - Work collaboratively with cafeteria staff and other substitutes to ensure a smooth and efficient food service operation.
- Assist with additional tasks as needed, including restocking supplies, organizing food storage areas, and performing routine kitchen maintenance.
Administrative Tasks: - Assist with the completion of daily reports, including tracking food inventory and meal counts.
- Follow procedures for recording and reporting any issues or incidents related to food service.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in food service or a related field preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of food safety practices and basic kitchen operations.
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to work effectively with students and staff.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the cafeteria and kitchen for extended periods.
- Capacity to lift and carry up to 25 pounds of food and supplies.
- Ability to perform tasks involving manual labor, such as cleaning and food preparation.
Work Environment:
- Work is performed in a school cafeteria and kitchen setting.
- The role may require standing for extended periods and handling food and kitchen equipment.
